Korea Checkup Guide

How do you read Korea screening institution lists?

Published

Participation, institution density and foreign-patient shares measure different populations and require compatible denominators.

Read Korean screening institution lists by designation, screening type and reference date. Separate multiple designations from unique institutions before comparing regional counts or population-based density.

What does an institution listing actually identify?

A designation identifies the permitted screening program type; it is not a ranking, language-service list or appointment calendar.

Read the institution unit and reference date before adding rows. An institution listed for both general and oral screening may appear in more than one category. A table of designations cannot be summed into a unique institution count without deduplication rules.

A regional count can help describe distribution, but it does not identify staffing, daily capacity or the services needed for an individual visit. The official search service is the appropriate place to check current designation; direct confirmation is still needed for practical arrangements.

When does adding designations double-count institutions?

One institution may have multiple designations, so category totals are not automatically a unique institution count.

Before adding general, cancer, oral or infant-screening records, check whether the official table defines a unique-institution total or a designation total. Preserve the source definition in any chart.

A change in designation coverage or reference date can change a regional count without describing a change in appointment capacity. The list is a designation record, not a measure of daily slots.

What must match before calculating institution density?

The institution numerator and population denominator must use matching geography and reference dates.

Resident population, registered foreigners and broader foreign-resident definitions are not interchangeable. Name the population used and keep the definition alongside the calculation.

The pending density tool joins records only when the district and reference date match. No official institution or population snapshot has yet been collected for public numerical results.

Use the current official NHIS search for designation, then separately confirm visit arrangements.

A regional total cannot tell whether one institution is currently designated for the planned screening type. A density value would also not establish service quality or an individual appointment.

Check the designation and the written visit information together. The guide does not rank institutions, recommend a provider or connect a booking.
